What Our Customers Say

Daniel Borhan, Saskatoon
Whole-home system
We had KeenAI do the whole house in Saskatoon — garage door, entry locks and door access, the Nest doorbell and intercom, motion and door sensors, Lutron lighting, and leak sensors with an automatic shut-off valve. What actually changed day to day is that it’s all one system on their platform instead of eight different apps: I can see who’s at the door, buzz someone in, open the garage for a delivery, and check everything’s locked — all from the same place. And if a pipe ever lets go, the water shuts itself off before it’s a disaster. Clean install, and John made sure we knew how to use it before he left.
Sandra M., Warman, SK
"We had Keenai install a full security camera and access control system at our office building. From the first consultation to final walkthrough, the team was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. They explained every step clearly and finished ahead of schedule. We finally feel secure knowing exactly who's coming and going. Highly recommend!"
Ramin M
Keenai set up our centralized network and internet system across our entire property. The coverage is flawless — no dead zones, no lag. Their team took the time to understand how we use our space and designed a solution that fits perfectly. Clean installation, zero mess left behind. Five stars without hesitation.
Mike L., Saskatoon Commercial Clien
We had a modern intercom system installed at our multi-unit building through Keenai. The quality of the hardware and workmanship is outstanding. Residents love being able to buzz guests in from their phones. The Keenai crew was professional, efficient, and cleaned up perfectly after the job. We've already referred them to two other property managers.
Priya & Anil S., Martensville, SK
We wanted a fully integrated smart home — lighting, thermostats, security, and cameras all in one place. Keenai delivered exactly that. The system is intuitive and everything works seamlessly together. What impressed us most was how patient and helpful the team was in showing us how to use it. It's transformed how we live in our home.
Carla W., Saskatoon
I can't say enough about Keenai's customer service. I had questions weeks after my camera and access system was installed, and they responded quickly and walked me through everything with zero attitude. It's rare to find a tech company that's both highly skilled AND genuinely helpful after the sale. These guys are the real deal.

Smart home questions Saskatoon homeowners actually ask

How much does a smart home system cost?

This is the most-searched question in the category, and most companies dodge it. Canadian cost guides put a basic setup — smart lighting, a thermostat and voice control — at roughly $1,000–$3,000, a mid-range system with lighting zones, locks and sensors at about $3,000–$7,000, and a fully integrated home with lighting, HVAC, cameras and entertainment at $10,000–$15,000 or more (HomeStars, Angi, HomeAdvisor, 2026). Installers commonly charge $50–$150 an hour and $75–$300 for the initial assessment.

Your KeenAI assessment is free, and you get a fixed quote for your actual property before any work begins. We don’t publish package prices because an honest number depends on your house, not on a web page.

Does a water leak detection system lower my home insurance?

Often, yes. Several Canadian insurers — including Allstate, Aviva, Intact and RSA — offer reduced premiums for homes with a flow-interrupting leak system, and discounts are typically quoted at 2–15% per device or category. Desjardins runs a program that supplies a leak-and-freeze sensor to customers. The honest caveat: these systems are still relatively new to Canadian underwriting, so there is no single guaranteed figure. Ask your own broker what your insurer allows, and we’ll provide documentation of what was installed.

Do smart home systems require a monthly subscription?

Not with us — not to run your home or view your own cameras. You own the hardware and the recordings, and the system works without anyone’s cloud. The genuine exception is monitored alarm response: police and fire dispatch, and the insurance credit that comes with it, require a certificated monitored service with a monthly fee. That is a separate product, and we will tell you plainly when it is worth having and when it isn’t.

What happens to my smart home when the internet goes out?

Automations, schedules, lighting, heating and leak response keep running, because they execute on hardware inside your house rather than on a server elsewhere. What pauses is remote access from outside the home and notifications to your phone; both resume by themselves when the connection returns. In a Saskatchewan winter that distinction matters more than it does in a mild climate.

Can electric baseboard heating be made smart?

Yes, and most owners are told otherwise. Baseboards run on line voltage, so the low-voltage smart thermostats sold in big-box stores physically will not work on them. Line-voltage smart thermostats give you per-room scheduling and remote control. It is one of the most useful and least-known upgrades available in older Saskatchewan homes, and we’re a Sinopé Authorized Reseller for exactly this.

Do smart home devices work in −40°C?

The ones we install are chosen on that assumption. Anything mounted outdoors is rated for the temperature range and installed accordingly. Indoors, the bigger risk is a heating failure while you’re away, which is why freeze alerts and temperature floors are part of how we design a system rather than something sold as an add-on.

Is there an alternative to Control4 or other proprietary systems?

Yes, and it is the main reason people call us. Proprietary platforms tie you to one dealer for the life of the system: if you fall out with them, or they stop trading, your options narrow sharply. We build on open standards, so your system can be serviced by any competent professional. Not being locked to us is deliberate. Where a proprietary system genuinely suits you better, we’ll say so.

Can you take over a smart home system somebody else installed?

Usually, yes — half-finished or abandoned systems are common. The platform we build on supports more than 1,500 device integrations, so most existing equipment can be brought into one system rather than replaced. Cloud-only products that genuinely cannot be integrated are identified at the free assessment, before you spend anything.

Who actually does the installation?

We do. KeenAI is locally owned in Saskatoon, and the person who installs your system is the person who answers when you call. There are 22 years of IT-infrastructure and smart-systems experience behind the company and 130+ projects delivered. Electrical work is carried out to code by licensed contractor partners, and we’ll always tell you which parts of a job are ours and which need another trade.
