About KeenAI Intelligent Solutions

A Saskatoon company with a new name and a long history. Before we automated a single home, we spent two decades building the infrastructure that businesses, clinics and schools run on — and that is still the foundation under everything we install.

  • Locally owned, Saskatoon
  • 22 years, 130+ projects
  • Open standards, no lock-in

A new name on an old tradeWhere the 22 years came from

KeenAI is a young brand, and we would rather explain that than let you wonder about it. The 22 years and 130+ projects behind the company were delivered by our founder under a previous company he owned, working in IT infrastructure and smart systems. The name changed. The people, the standards and the way we work did not.

We say this plainly because the alternative — implying a long-established brand — is the kind of small dishonesty that tells you everything about how a company will behave later, when something goes wrong on your site.

Infrastructure first. Everything else sits on top.

Our original trade is the layer most people never see: structured cabling, racks, managed switching, firewalls, servers, virtualisation and wireless. Cameras, door readers, sensors and building controls all assume a network worth putting them on, and in a great many buildings that assumption is wrong.

That order matters. When we design a camera system or an access system, we are designing the network underneath it at the same time — because we have spent two decades being the people called when that network turns out to be the problem.

A wall-mounted equipment rack installed by KeenAI with eight patch panels of numbered Cat6 terminations and blue and white cable bundles dressed through ceiling conduit
From our work

Around two hundred ports, every one numbered

The rack behind a finished job: patch panels terminated and numbered, bundles fanned through conduit in the order they arrive. Nobody looks at this again after handover, which is exactly why it matters — it is the difference between a fault found in ten minutes and an afternoon spent tracing cable through a ceiling.

An outdoor-rated television and soundbar mounted on a stone wall under a covered patio by KeenAI, with a dome security camera on the same soffit
From our work

The same trade, at the other end of the scale

An outdoor television and a security camera on one covered patio — mounted, weather-sealed and cabled by the same people who build clinic racks. Residential work is not a different discipline for us. It is the same cabling, the same networking and the same documentation, applied to a house.

What we do now

IT infrastructure

Structured cabling, racks, switching and VLAN segmentation, firewalls, Wi-Fi, servers and virtualisation, and VoIP telephony — the whole stack or any part of it.

Security & access

Cameras with recording you own, access control with per-person credentials and an audit trail, and intercom and entry systems for buildings.

Building & home automation

Lighting, shading, climate, energy and water on one system, from a single house to a multi-site portfolio.

Water leak protection

Automatic shut-off for houses and mesh-networked protection for apartment blocks and commercial buildings. We are a Sinopé authorized reseller.

Entertainment & AV

Theatres, whole-home audio, outdoor television and conference-room systems, integrated into the room rather than bolted onto it.

Support that comes with the job

Support is part of our projects rather than sold back afterwards — 8×5 as standard and 24×7 on projects that need it.

Some of the projects behind us

Our commercial and institutional work includes:

  • Eye Surgeons of Regina — a complete fit-out: structured cabling and rack, managed switching with VLAN segmentation, Ubiquiti UDM firewall, Wi-Fi mesh, cameras and access control, a Dell server with hypervisor, and VoIP telephony.
  • Kitasoo Community School, Klemtu, BC — a K–12 school serving a remote fly-in community on Swindle Island, in the Great Bear Rainforest. Remote sites leave no room for a second visit to fix something, which changes how you plan, spec and document a job.
  • Farmaplex Inc.
  • Gotmold Inc.
  • Heritage Timber

Alongside these sit residential systems across Saskatoon, Warman and Martensville — whole-home networks, security, lighting, climate, theatres and leak protection.

A bank of Aprilaire zone thermostats installed by KeenAI, each hand-labelled for garage, front entrance, second floor and kitchen-mudroom floor
From our work

Labelled so the next person can follow it

A multi-zone heating bank from one of our jobs — garage, front entrance, second floor and in-floor heat, each on its own zone and each labelled by hand. Documentation is not paperwork we produce afterwards. It goes on the wall, at the time, for whoever opens this cupboard in ten years.

A clinic corridor installed by KeenAI with a ceiling dome camera, recessed LED troffers and a ceiling speaker in the same grid
From our work

One ceiling, one visit

A clinic corridor where the camera, the lighting and the ceiling speaker all went in on the same job. Coordinating the trades once costs less and looks better than three separate visits — it is why this ceiling reads as designed rather than accumulated.

What we believeAnd what we will not do

  • You should own your system. Your footage, your recordings, your hardware, your data. We build on open standards so any competent professional can service what we install — including someone who is not us.
  • No forced subscriptions. Monthly fees to view your own cameras or run your own home are not part of how we sell.
  • Measure before you spend. We will not quote you a savings percentage before we have seen your building. Anyone who does is guessing, and the number is there to close the sale.
  • Say what a job actually needs. Sometimes the honest answer is that your money belongs in balancing, a repair, or another trade entirely, rather than in anything we sell. We would rather say so and keep the relationship.
  • The installer answers the phone. The person who put the system in is the person you reach afterwards.

The equipment we work with

We specify per site rather than by default, and the stack we work with most includes Ubiquiti, Hikvision, Dell, APC, Lutron, Sonos, Sony, Ecobee, Sinopé, Aqara, Samsung and Sonoff. The automation platform we build on supports more than 1,500 device integrations, which is what lets us bring equipment you already own into one system instead of replacing it.

Where a product we do not carry genuinely suits you better, we will say so at the assessment rather than after the invoice.

Where we work

KeenAI is locally owned in Saskatoon and works throughout the surrounding communities including Warman and Martensville. Commercial, institutional and infrastructure projects take us further — Regina and other Saskatchewan centres are within our normal working area, we have delivered in British Columbia, and we will consider work in Alberta and beyond where the project justifies it.

Frequently asked questions

How long has KeenAI been in business?

KeenAI is a new name carrying a long track record. The 22 years of experience and 130+ projects behind the company were delivered by our founder under a previous company he owned, working in IT infrastructure and smart systems. We would rather tell you that directly than imply a longer history for the brand itself.

Is KeenAI a smart home company or an IT company?

Both, and in that order historically. Our original trade is IT infrastructure — cabling, networks, firewalls and servers — and smart-building work grew out of it. That is why our automation and security systems are designed with the network underneath them rather than assuming one exists.

Do you work on commercial projects as well as homes?

Yes. Commercial and institutional work is a large part of what we do, including clinics, offices, schools and multi-unit buildings. Our commercial projects include Eye Surgeons of Regina, Kitasoo Community School in Klemtu BC, Farmaplex Inc., Gotmold Inc. and Heritage Timber.

Do you provide support after installation?

Yes. Support is included with our projects rather than sold separately afterwards. Standard cover is 8×5, and 24×7 support is in place on projects that require it. Because we designed and documented the system, the person supporting it already knows how it was built.

What areas does KeenAI serve?

KeenAI is based in Saskatoon and serves the surrounding communities including Warman and Martensville. Commercial and infrastructure projects extend across Saskatchewan including Regina, and the company has delivered projects in British Columbia.

Why do you build on open standards?

Because proprietary platforms tie a building to one dealer for the life of the system. If that relationship ends, so does practical control of your own equipment. Building on open standards means any competent professional can service what we install, and not being locked to us is deliberate.

Beyond smart. We’re intelligent.

Whether it is a house, a clinic, a school or a portfolio of buildings, the assessment is free and the answer is straight — including when the answer is that you do not need what we sell.
